Board Meetings

We are holding Board meetings on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at the Main Library in the Fribrough Room Downtown Little Rock from 3pm-5pm. The meetings are open to the public and if you would like to come down and help shape your Pride then please join us. Just remember though that only Board members can vote, but all idea’s and creative input will be welcome.

Well we are working hard to bring Pride back to Little Rock in 2009. It will happen on Sunday June 7, 2009. It’s being held again this time at the River Market Pavillion in Downtown Little Rock. Mark your calendars and come celebrate Pride with the rest of us.

We are holding Fundraiser’s all the time. I will keep you in the loop on here for when our next one is in a seperate post but check back often to see when our next one is and come out and support Pride 2009.

No Pride for 2008

The board of Little Rock Capital Pride is officially announcing that we will not be producing a Pride event in 2008. Unfortunately, we were unable to get a quorum of members (7) to serve on our board. It was felt that three board members, who all serve in leadership roles in other GLBT groups, would be unable to perform all of the tasks required to plan the event. After the tremendous success of Capital Pride ‘07, we were quite surprised that more individuals did not join us so that we could build on our successes. It is our hope that the absence of a Pride event will spur the local community into action. We are planning a picnic/barbeque in June so that we can discuss future plans and recruit volunteers for next year. In July, we will hold elections for next year’s board and I encourage anyone who is interested to send an e-mail to joe@lrcpride.org to express your willingness to serve. We are optimistic that Pride will return to Little Rock and look forward to the community’s support.

Little Rock Capital Pride will be holding our annual meeting and board elections on Saturday, September 8th at 3pm at the Central Arkansas Library Main Branch located at 100 Rock Street. We will meet in the Friborough room on the second floor.

Wow! Pride rocks Little Rock!

This year’s pride was the biggest Little Rock has ever seen! Despite some flashes of rain, we had an amazing celebration, with over 1,500 attendees, including many, many “walk-in” families from President Clinton Avenue.

The Little Rock Capital Pride organization couldn’t be more excited about the progress that has been made in this past year with both our organization, and GLBT causes across our state. We hope that LRCP serves as a meeting ground for the GLBT community and creates new networks that will help facilitate future progress.

Please feel free to take a look at the “Archive: ‘07 Pride” page for information about the most recent Pride Celebration. We’ve also made other changes to the website to move all information that is already outdated to the archive. As more information becomes available about Pride ‘08, we will update the site to reflect upcoming events.

We’d like to make special note of the video that was compiled at Pride ‘07, which includes highlight from throughout the day. Take a look at the “Pride ‘07 Pictures & Video” page to view those videos. (It’s about 35 minutes long in total.)

If you’d like to share your pictures from Pride ‘07, please join our Little Rock Capital Pride Yahoo! Group and upload your pictures into the photo archive. Within a few weeks, we will compile the pictures together and post them as an album on this site.

Finally, even if you don’t have pictures, please be sure to join the LRCP Yahoo! Group to keep informed of upcoming events and about planning for our next Pride Festival.
